1) SALVATION
John
1:12, 13 But as many
as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to
those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the
will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
Rom. 5:8 But God
demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have
eternal life.
2) BAPTISM IN THE
SPIRIT
Acts 1:8 But you
will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My
witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the
remotest part of the earth.
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them
utterance.
Acts
10:44-48 While
Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who
were listening to the message. All the circumcised believers who came with
Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on
the Gentiles also. For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and
exalting God. Then Peter answered, 'Surely no one can refuse the water for
these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”
And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked
him to stay on for a few days.
3) TRAINING TRACK
II Tim.
2:2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of
many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others
also.
Col 2:6,
7 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in
Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in
your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.
a) Character
Joshua
1:1-9 Now it came about after the
death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son
of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise,
cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to
them, to the sons of Israel. Every place on which the sole of your
foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. From the wilderness
and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the
land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun
will be your territory. No man will be able to stand before you all the days of
your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you. I will not fail
you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this
people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give
them. Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the
law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or
to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go. This book of the law
shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night,
so that you maybe careful to do according to all that is written in it; for
then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I
not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for
the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
b) Things of the Spirit
I Cor. 12; Rom.
12: 1-8; Eph. 4: 1-16
c) Ministry
II Tim.
4:5 But you,
be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill
your ministry.
4) BECOME A SON
a) Elijah/Elisha
I Kings
19:15-21 The Lord said to him, “Go,
return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you have arrived,
you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram; and Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall
anoint king over Israel; and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you
shall anoint as prophet in your place. It shall come about, the one who escapes
from the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall put to death, and the one who escapes from
the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death. Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel,
all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed
him.”
So he
departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, while he was plowing
with twelve pairs of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah
passed over to him and threw his mantle on him. He left the oxen and ran
after Elijah and said, “Please let me kiss my father and my mother, then
I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to
you?” So he returned from following him, and took the pair of oxen and
sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the implements of the oxen, and gave
it to the people and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah and ministered
to him.
b) Paul/Timothy
I Tim.
1:1-4 Paul, an apostle of Christ
Jesus, according to the commandment of God our Savior, and of Christ Jesus, who
is our hope, to Timothy, my true son in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from
God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
As I
urged upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may
instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, nor to pay attention to
myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather
than furthering the administration of God which is by faith.
II Tim
2:1-8 You therefore, my son, be strong
in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me
in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be
able to teach others also. Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ
Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself with the affairs of
everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he
competes according to the rules. The hard-working farmer ought to be the first
to receive his share of the crops. Consider what I say, for the Lord will give
you understanding in everything.
I Cor. 4:
14-17 I do not
write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved
children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you
would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through
the gospel.
Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. For this reason I have sent
to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will
remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every
church.
c) Paul/Titus
Titus
1:4, 5 To Titus,
my true in child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father
and Christ Jesus our Savior. For this reason I left you in Crete, that you
would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed
you
5) BECOME A MINISTER
Eph.
4:11-13 And He gave
some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as
pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service,
to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of
the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the
measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
II Tim.
4:5 But you, be sober in all things,
endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
Col. 4:17
Say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in
the Lord, that you may fulfill it."
6) BECOME A FATHER
Rom.
4:16-18 For this
reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so
that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those
who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is
the father of us all (as it is written, "A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS I HAVE
MADE YOU") in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives
life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. In hope
against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations
according to that which had been spoken, "SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE.“
II Cor.
6:18 “And I will be a Father to you,
and you shall be sons and daughters to me,” says the Lord Almighty.
(combination of Is. 52:11 and II Sam. 7:14)
I Thess.
2:10-12 You are
witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved
toward you believers; just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging
and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you
would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and
glory.
Mal. 4:5,
6 Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet
before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. He will restore
the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children
to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse.
7) BECOME A GRANDFATHER
(generational leader/apostolic leader)
Gal. 1:1
Paul, an apostle (not sent from men nor
through the agency of man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who
raised Him from the dead), and all the brethren who are with me, to the
churches of Galatia:
